Praying mantis reached adulthood

Has your mantid reached adulthood?

When a mantis reaches adulthood, in most species, they will develop wings. In species such as the African Mantis (Sphodromantis sp) and the Giant Asian Mantis (Hierodula sp), the wings will cover the whole abdomen. In Species such as the Bug Winged Mantis (Parasphendale sp) (females only) and the Stick Mantis (Bruniella Borealis), the wings will only form in small buds.

If the mantis starts to lay oothecae, then this is also a sign of adulthood. Only when they are adult, can they produce eggs, and are able to lay.
