Hermit crabs

Hermit crabs are one of the more strange of all invertebrates, taking a different form, different character, and generally different care. Hermit crabs are unable to reproduce in captivity, due to the speicialst conditions they need. However, due to their unique characteristics, and fairly low maintenance, they do make fun, interesting pets.

Hermit crabs are slightly differnt to normal crabs, as they do infact move around from shell to shell. Inside the shell, is a very soft, slug like body, which is hidden away so it stays protected. As the crab grows, it will need to change the size of its shell, so will simply slip out of the old one, and into a new, larger one.
