My first insects, Aretaon asperrimus have just started to lay eggs,, mostly into a pot of sand on the tank floor ...

Whats the best thing to do ,,, Remove the eggs from the sand each week when I clean the tank, then rebury or place on tissue paper, I dont want to leave in the tank till they hatch (I might miss them when I clean it out !) Or maybe remove the pot each month and replace with a fresh one? Do they take long to hatch...

How do you guys with these do it

Thx for any advice

Derek

I used to leave them in the tank, but ended up with 324987243097 of them (they're pretty prolific). Your best bet is to remove them and incubate them - either rebury them or scatter them on a substrate such as vermiculite - if it's deep enough they'll eventually gravitate to the bottom of the pot and, in effect, you will have reburied them. Hope that made sense... :D Also, don't keep too many eggs, unless you really like them.

Mark, that's a fair few nymphs. I'm guessing you've deviated from the actual amount by a max of 10 or so? :p

I also reburried mine to incubate them. I find it much easier to keep an eye on what's going on as well.

Thx for the advice guys... I will move out the sand pot with the eggs in it once a month or so and put it into another container,,, Then wait a few months

Fingers crossed I will get some babies !
