I have actually had crickets to eat.
used to be a stall in the Fish & Meat market in Barnsley that sold all sorts of meats and things.
I have had:-
Ostrich
Crocodile
Buffalo
Kangaroo
Crickets
Snake
Pigs Brains
Sheep's Eyeballs
Amongst other things.
That site is hillarious! I don't know where it came from, but I've just seen it pop up in google for a few search terms all of a sudden.
Stick Insects are famously fastidious, and must be washed carefully at least once a week. Use a gentle detergent, rinse with warm water, and use a cotton bud to dry the insect. Many breeders use a domestic dishwasher on a “plates” setting, but this can be uneconomical for less then a million or so insects at a time.
Bathtime is a favourite part of the week for your Stick Insects, and, most importantly, gives you a good chance to inspect them for cuts and bruises they may have incurred during the previous seven days.
After bathing, polish any Show insects as normal, taking care with their tender undersides.

Just took mine to the local hand wash. They all look like new.
What detergent did you use?
Bleach is often good for the Extats, because of their light skin.

Best way is to dip them in paraffin as this removes any grease and then bathe them under water for 30 mins to remove rest of dirt and grime.

I know someone can't be that stupid but imagine if they really did follow his advice and wash their sticks in the dish washer!!!!!!!!!!

Well mine didn't survive on a 30 wash. So maybe either too cold or too hot for them. But they seemed to be smiling when they were spinning round.

What so your not REALLY supposed to put your sticks in a dish washer.... OMG WHAT HAVE I DONE!
Erm yeh who would fall for that, certainly not me, hehe * Runs to check on sticks*
Taz, didn't you read their tags properly? On 30 they are only meant to go in for a quick wash, that's probably where you went wrong.
