i think shes subadult, possibly adult and i can say this is one of the best looking sticks i have seen, its very beatifull with its black and white stripes

the males are very tiny, can fit on to the end of your finger!

a couple of weeks ago we had a problem with these as one of the cats knocked over the cage containing these which in turn opened the lid, they all escaped and i thought i wouldnt see them again as this species like other pseduphasmatinae hide themselves away during the day into rocks and crevices etc.
during the night i felt them crawling over me made me jump but i was relived to find them!

like paromlaus this one is very smelly (from the spray), and very skitish, but its worth culturing for the great colours

Oh my Rob, that are just spectacular. What are the eggs like to incubate?

I need to start uploading more of your photos to the forum gallery.

thanks ian, i agree this is one of the best species in terms of colour, it really does standout!

the ova is easy to incubate, kinda like small grey chippings.
albeit quite small and somwhat fragile looking

its suprisingly easy as well as it takes bramble, one thing though its one of those which dies if sprayed

if you want to try this species i can save some ova for you if you have any mantids to swap

thanks
yes this genus has quite alot of unusual dark patterns from species to species, this has to be the best in my opinion though!

good idea muelly, maybe ian can sort something out a poll

actualy despite books saying this species can be difficult i havent had any loses at all, and it feeds on bramble which is a plus.
it seems very easy, but not everyone can take the stink these make when disturbed!

I sure could sort out a poll...but there again, so could you guys :D

When making a new thread, there is a poll option near the bottom of the page.

Can you explain the smell? Does it remind you of anything or any other species?
Its facinating how some species smell obviously some not bad and some just unpleasant lol

the smell is very strong,id descibe it like pepper, but much worse and can cause breathing problems in some people you certainly notice it
they only do it when disturbed though.

the anismorpha genus seems to be the only one of the sprayers i have kept that actualy have such a smell to the defensive spray, species such as peruphasma to me have a very mild smell, i dont really notice it (but dosent mean its not as dangerous to eyes)

bye
