Hi Everyone,
Well since the last time that I panicked the eggs wouldn't hatch I now have over 40 of these wonderful little guys and gals.
The trouble I'm now faced with is thus:
Say out of this 40 (Still have 30 eggs left to hatch ) even if only 10 of them are female thats roughly 1000 eggs I could be dealing with.....
So, if no one wants to buy them (Most people around here don't) I can't really be then looking after 900 stick insects!
My question is this: Is there anyway I can (sadly mind you) dispose of the unwanted eggs or perhaps freeze them in case I want to hatch them later? Or will freezing them stop them from hatching.
We're about to move into a 2 bedroom flat and I can only just about manage having 40 lol.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.
Nerveno.

I can't really answer any of your questions. :( But I'm always look for eggs. If you would like to give some unwanted eggs away, I would gladly cover shipping :)
P.S. I don't mean to be rude, but I'm very short on money at the moment.

freezing the eggs WILL kill them and a good way of dispose of the unwanted eggs if you can not sell or give away

It's best to give them away, I think it's not that nice to dispose of eggs in any way, if you advertise it I'm sure people are willing to pay for postage of the eggs, I would take some but my parents will kill me :p that and the fact I can just see them chomping on my indian sticks :p

Well I said pay for, but I meant people aren't really willing to have them (being that they dont look like normal stick insects)
So I will have to see when the this generation fully mature and see what I'm up against, since once I move into my new place I plan on getting a lot more inverts and a few reptiles, I need to make sure I wont be overwhelmed. Lol.
EDIT: I do agree with you that it's not nice to dispose of the eggs, but if I have like 1000 eggs (thats if less than half the gen turn out to be females, if it's half and half give or take Im looking at 3000 eggs plus!!!!!) I may have to get rid of a fewly sadly.

If they produce the way you say, they would make a good source as feeders. Not sure how well they would be accepted as food, because of their spray, but they could save you some money on buying crickets.

Hello all keepers!
I use my overflows phasmids as a food for reptiles and some scorpions. There is no problem with m.extradentata or pink winged, but I doubt about peruphasma, 'cos they eat privet, and, if I am not wrong, privet is a toxic plant and it smell like cyanic acid. Did someone use peruphasma like live food? Is this good or not?

I was thinking their defense spray might be a problem.
I'm not sure if the food they eat would really have anything to do with it, but if that were the case, you could feed them Honey suckle or any other plant they will eat.
