Hi, may seem like a stupid question. I have a six-year-old daughter who keeps Indian stick insects and she has a little pile of eggs gestating away in her room. We know we have to spray them with a fine mist of water, make sure they're not too wet or cold, but she's asked me why we spray them if they can't drink or feel it. And I can't find an answer.

It's probably one of those answers that is so glaringly obvious that nobody thought to answer it before! I've explained that maybe the other species like the Pink Wings lay slightly soggy eggs maybe and that they will die if they dry out, but our eggs were dry to begin with.

its so the humidity is kept up and so they don't try out :)

See, that's so obvious I am actually kicking myself. They're indigenous to warm, moist climates. Of course they need humid air. Duh.

Lol, like stickinsect123 said, its just so they dont dry out too much and hinder the nymphs hatching.
