Extatosoma tiaratum don't like to be sprayed. So, just keep wet the ground. They seem to like well ventilated cages.

You don't spray yours at all, ever?
They seem to love to drink - but they don't have to, you say?
If I don't spray mine for too long some start nibbling on the wet paper tissue on the bottom of the enclosure ...

Hmmm... I sprayed the leaves once a week, when I cleaned the cage and the animals were outside. Forgot about that...

Iv had half a dozen or so ETs in a Flexarium for six months or so. I give mine a good misting (insects, food plant + enclosure) each evening + I regularly see the ETs drink as, or immediately after, iv sprayed them. Im never sure about this not spraying them directly idea. Mine have been fine + in the wild, they dont have a choice about getting wet when it rains! I guess it refers to the fact that ETs prefer ventilation rather than humidity. Flexariums offer gr8 ventilation, + even after a very good misting, my enclosure dries out very quickly. Spraying them heavily in a glass enclosure wdnt b a good idea bcos of the high humidity. :D

Yes, they have. They hang under leaves. But if it works spraying them directly in your culture, he could also try.

Just like davey E, I keep my et's in a flexarium and spray them directly every evening, I think water can affect them If they are in a humid environment but because flexariums have fantastic ventilation the et's aren't affected by the water. when you spray them it seems to make them eat too

A question for those of you who keep E.t.s in fully ventilated mesh cages:
What degree of humidity do you actually have within the enclosure most of the time? Do you use some kind of permanently wet substrate or is it really just room humidity (which can be pretty low during the heating season), just slighly increased by the presence of the food plants, and temporarily raised after spraying?
Do you get bad moults at all?

all of my et's moults have been perfect in the flexarium, they're isn't much humidity either
