I have been bitten for a week, though it was mozzies but now it is just getting silly and I found and caught two fleas today!
How do I get rid of them without harming my sticks and turtles?
Any one any ideas?

clear out all your pets, and spray all over the place with flea killer
sounds like the best solution, good thing is most flee killers should not harm any other animals as they are made specifically for flle killin, but move everything out first, do it room by room, day by day (one room a day) spray in the morning close all the windows and door during the afternoon then open the windows in the evening. I wouldn't go crazy but spray your bed, dogs/cats beds, furniture etc... reguarding your sticks give the spray a day or two to be diffused into the air before moving them back. Hopefully it i'll be a proper job!!!

Ok ta, that sound like a good plan! I was really worried I might make the sticks ill.

Just put some spiders onto your wall. I've been doing this for years and it works.

Lol, I had spiders all over my house but that still didn't stop them after they fell off my cats and started breeding in the carpets etc. They were something like out of a horror film; if I sat down on the floor to read a book or study an insect, you could actualy see them hopping towards you from two metres away! They seem to always know where you are. Putting flea collars on the cats eventualy ended this.

I think, if I had a cat or a dog it would be easier as I could just treat them and it should solve the problem.
One of our hamsters mysteriously died last week and I am wondering if it died of flea bites or something. I didn't start noticing any fleas untill 4 days after it died but am wondering if one got in and was biting herand her tiny little body couldn't cope. The other hamster seems fine. I've put it higher up so they are less likely to get at him.
Not sure about spiders, lol! We've got quite a few of those allready and my 10 year old ADHD boy screams like a baby girl when he see's them, wimp.
I have caught 5 by hand so far and 3 more in a bowl of water.
I just put my finger over them and managed to get them all squashed in tissue paper and flushed them down loo.
(in secret, as, for a child who is terrified of spiders, my child oddly panics, cries and hysterically shouts 'no,no,no,no!' at the suggestion of killing any insect!)
Last night I checked the bed before I got in. Nothing. But after being in there for 20 mins I felt new itches in different places. So I put the lights on and pulled back the covers. I got my thumb over one, and then saw another od the same had so I put a thumb over that one too. I then spent quite some time sitting like that trying to workout how to get them into tissue and down the loo without loosing one of them and hoping I didn't see any more till I'd dealt with this one! I managed, and did catch a third one too!
I put a question on Yahoo answers and got a few suggestion of diferent insect killing products and borax and one suggested she got rid of them by putting out bowls of water for them to jump into. It worked with the first bowl but I think the first victim of this called out to all the others to warn them and the next two were just stupid.
Sigh!

I remember in my younger years, when I had a flat, I bought a settee from a secondhand shop and it was riddled with the little buggers.
I used to put on a pair of whites socks, tuck my trousers into the socks and sit with one of those cooker lighters. When one landed on my sock I would incinerate it.
Fleas are attracted to you by body heat, movement, and the carbon dioxide you exhale. So stop moving, turn off the heating and most importantly, STOP BREATHING. Only joking, you can move around if you want to.
Our cat is allergic to fleas and so we have to keep her treated at all times, we just let our son run around naked so they all land on him and eat. :D

Well, I spayed all the carpeted rooms and hall last night (first time I've been able to get stuff) with hamsters in kitchen, sticks in bath, turtles are in downs stairs lobby anyway and big towel over fish tank.
My legs are so itchy and stingy! I think I am allergic like your cat Taz Devil and my son has gone away for week so I'm the only target!
I went to bathroom in middle of night and there was the little buggies everywhere! jumping allover floor, caught about 25 with a tissue and flushed them.
Then sprayed all over floor.
Then remembered the sticks and quickly started removing sticks and nymphs and eggs out to the kitchen calling 'oh no my sticks! oh no my sticks!'
I live in a flat and don't know what the neighbours thought of my carryings on in the night!

Lol. I was lucky, When I had the problem in the flat I was living in I had a friend who worked for a pest control company and he gave me a couple of smoke bomb type things. I had to leave all the windows closed and all the doors open, set one off in the bedroom and the other one off in the living room, the smoke penetrated the house quite well, but it left the whole place covered in a layer of dust.
We use cans of flea spray from the vets if ever we have a problem. Treating the cat on a regular basis has ensured that we have been Flea free for about 10 years now.
At her worst she would sit and rip bits of fur out, leaving herself bold from all the preening and scratching she did due to the reaction to the bites.

How big is you Bathroom that there was 25 buggies driving around in it:D did they not block you loo?:):p
