does anyone know what the biggest stick insect is? and has anyone got any pics? thanks ray.

Depends on what you mean by biggest. Heteropteryx dilatata is the heaviest, up to 70grams I think. And the longest I believe is Phobaeticus serratipes , a wild speciemen was recorded at 55cm.

yep your right JC. Phobaeticus serratipes is the longest stick insect up to date but there are other species too which may be about to take the title......I've been told jungle nymphs are HUGE and they can seriously injure smaller species sometimes

Phobaeticus serratipes is indeed the current record holder for the longest insect - a specimen with a length of 555mm. However, there's a larger one being described right now..

Quite thin - certainly no thicker than 1.5 cm
