African fat tailed gecko care

Hemitheconyx caudicinctus

The African fat tailed gecko (Hemitheconyx caudicinctus) is a good species for the beginner, with low care requirements and good nature.

What do they look like?

Similar to the leopard gecko, but an overall dark orange colour, with blank stripes running down their back. In contrast, the underside of the gecko is white. As with the leopard gecko, the body is covered in many small bumps.

These can reach up to 10 inches in length.

Where are they from?

These are naturally found in areas such as Senegal, and Nigeria. With a naturally hot climate, these geckos should be kept at around 30c, give or take a couple of degrees.
